village mud...

Hey guys!

Thanks, Kristi!! You see, Kristi's my secratary. She does my updates when I'm out. Ha ha.. joke! Kristi is most definitly not my secratary but hao peng you ( good friend). Thanks agian, hao peng you! :o)

The village was fun. We came back early because of bad roads, but we still had accomplishments while we were there. It was very tiring. We had to turn around many times because of bad roads. We actally did some real hiking into the village this time. It would have been fun but I was carrying two big things of water, and a sack with a big melon, a big sack of apples, and other things in it. One of my favorite things about this trip was that I could understand what they were saying. In the villages where I'm used to going, they speak their own minority language, but there they spoke the language that they speak in the town I live in. I have learned to understand it and speak some, so that was really nice being able to really understand them. I'm just going to post a lot of pictures this time instead of writing a lot, so enjoy! Oh! I do want to say this. I didn't have any panic problems this time so I'm VERY thankful for that!!
We had a flat tire, the first place we went. It was funny because it was only a small rock that made it flat. Thankfully, there was a nice dude that was willing to help us fix it. These are some pictures of the kids at the school. There were a bunch crowded around us but when I took out my camera, they ran away. :o)

This is our househelper's son. He's so cute!

This little boy was a stinker!! but SOOO cute :o)

muddy roads but BEAUTIFUL scenery!!! Stopped because a wreck up front? Stopped becuse of traffic? Stopped because they're working on the road? No. Water Buffalo loading is taking place. Queen of the world. :O)

This little baby was too cute! She wasn't too willing to let me hold her at first. I offered her a cracker and she jumped into my arms. She ate three fourths of the package. About every three crackers, she'd ask for a drink of water. I noticed something really cool. Every time she got a cracker she would break it all up and give me half of it. I never accepted it because her hands were so filthy, but every time, without fail, she would offer me some. She doesn't just eat stuff like that every day. That was a SPECIAL treat, and yet she still wanted to share.

This is me and "old lady." That's what they say here and it's not offensive at all. It's what you're supposed to say. :o) I thought she looked so authentic. Our helper took the pic so she didn't get everything in the picture, but oh well. At least I got something. I'm not sure what she thought of us. :o)

This is the house we slept at. We were going to sleep on bamboo slats at a village house, but, thankfully we didn't. We got to stay at this place. It was MUCH nicer.

This is me and our helper. As you can see, we're very tired. :)

Well, That's all for now. Hope you guys are all doing awesome. As kristi says I always say, leave comments. :o)

Blessings,

Holli

Request from Holli

Hi Everybody!

This is Kristi, Holli's peng you(friend). Holli left today with her mom and housekeeper to go on a trip to a neighboring village. She said that the road to the village was a dirt/cobblestone road, and so traveling was really bumpy. They also had a flat tire on the way, but thankfully found some villagers to help them fix it. During this time it also started raining. It sounds like so far the trip hasn't been that great. They will be traveling back on Sunday.

Sorry, but since I'm not on Holli's computer, I dont have any pictures to post. She'll have to show you some when she gets back. In Holli's own words though, "please leave comments!"

Blessings to Everybody,

Kristi and Holli(via text messages)

High School

Sorry it's been a long time since I've updated. I've been busy with school. It's my second week of being a freshman. It's still a little exciting. After about another week, I'll be trying to throw my books in the river next to our house. :o) Home work takes me longer now, but I'm still getting good grades. Well, that's enough aboout school.

I would write up a bunch of stories but I can't really think of anything since I've just been doing school lately. :o)

oh! I know somehthing! It might not be that interesting though. Our poor dog got ring worm. Before, we weren't sure what it was so we took her to the local vet. She cleaned her up and gave us some medicine and told us to use it every day. It was funny to me because we still didn't know what it was. So, my mom asked her what the problem was. She said it was just some problem with her skin and we should use the medicine. She ended up saying the name for it but we didn't understand. Anyway, we are pretty sure she has ring worm. We've been keeping her in her cage and on a leash which is really sad because she REALLY wants to get out and run around like normal. Ok, sorry, I'll get to the funny part. She was itching the spots and then she would itch other spots so it was going to spread. We needed an e collar for her. So, we decided to create our own. We bought an intertube and made it custom fit for her. She looks so cute when she's wearing it but she certainly doesnt enjoy it! :o( Poor pup...

The caption that goes along with the picture is," I just can't,for the life of me, think of a logical explination for this!"

My dad returned from his very eventful trip. He had a very exciting trip and seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. It was like Christmas when he came back! He brought back many fun keepsakes for us. :o) We're all very glad to have him back!

Well, hope y'all enjoyed the pictures and the very little I had to say. :o) Have a GREAT day or night.

With a great big smile,

Holli :o)

Final day of vacation :o(

Hey Guys!
Today is my very last day of vacation... :o( I had an amazing month! The island was wonderful and I had a great time hanging out with a GREAT friend. :o) Then, when I came home, I had a nice resting time. I watched lots of movies, and slept in big time! We found a really cool pool in town. My parents went into the hotel to get some stuff and then they went on a search to see if there was a pool. I really didn't expect there to be one but there was!! Now we have membership and swim quite a lot! :o) Well, just about two days ago, we made a run into the city. Marshall stepped on a nail and his last tetnus was seven years ago. So, we had to get him one within 48 hours. My mom then realized that I hadn't had one in ten years. Of cource, we don't have access to a good tetnus vacine here so we took a trip into the city. It was just me, marshall, and mom. Even in the big city, it was difficult to get it. We had to go ask this Canadian Doctor that worked there to help us. She was VERY kind and spent most of her afternoon with us. We went across town to a clinic that has imported vacines. When we knew they had it, we asked if they would inject it. They said that they couldn't inject that type of shot but they do sell it. hmm... Anyway, she bought two of them and then sent my mom and I down the street to go find some alchohal and cotton swabs. So, we did and we finally found some. When we went back, she just said, "You wanna freak them out and just do it right here?"
We thought that would be fun so we did. Right in the shop, we sat down and she poked us there. :o) The Nurses/Doctors that were there were freakin out and asking if she could really do it. ha ha she just finally had to look at them and say, "I'm a doctor." :o) It was fun.
I was glad we got to go because we got some yummy American food for the last time! :o)
Oh! Before that I had to get a blood test done in my city. It was a scarry experience but they did a good job. :o)

Well, I will be starting school tomorow. So, remember us and our school year.

Love you guys
HOlli
